Coming off a big victory in their first game of the season, Drexel will take on the Bulls of South Florida, the nineteenth ranked team in the country, on Sunday afternoon in the second round of the Preseason NIT. The Dragons, who were dominant for much of their opening round victory over Dartmouth, will have their hands full with a potent USF offense. Drexel is in search of its first win over a ranked opponent in nearly five years.
South Florida is led by preseason All-America Honorable Mention player Courtney Williams. Williams is poised to break a plethora of school records, and is also set to become the program's second ever two thousand point scorer. The senior had 34 points and 18 rebounds in her first game of the season. The 5'8" speedster will be a handful for Drexel's backcourt. Up front, the Bulls have a ton of size, including seven players over 6' in height, several of which will tower over the Dragons' tallest post players.
This game is a huge early test for Drexel. An upset against their first ever American Athletic Conference opponent would likely find them in Waco, Texas later in the week against one of the nation's premier programs.
