The Drexel men's basketball team will open up the 2015-16 season on City Avenue tomorrow evening as they take on St. Joes at Hagan Arena. The Dragons will look to bounce back from a tumultuous season that saw almost every player on the team lost to injury at some point last year. The new look Dragons will be without the services of a couple graduating seniors, Sooren Derboghosian (perhaps the greatest UCLA transfer player in program history), Freddie Wilson (without a doubt the best pump faker in program history), and junior transfer Damion Lee (off to Louisville where he is now sporting dreads).
The two teams have played for several years in a row at home sites, with the Hawks besting Drexel 52-49 last season and 75-55 the year before that. Drexel's last win in the series came at home in the 2010-11 season.
The Dragons have added several potential starters to the roster this year. Utah transfer Ahmad Fields joins the Drexel backcourt along with freshman point guard Terrell Allen and redshirt sophomore Major Canady. Kazembe Abif (he's back!) will help bolster what was a very young frontcourt last season.
Friday's game will begin at 8pm and be broadcast live on PHL17 in the Philadelphia area. As a reminder, the women's basketball team will play at home on Friday night at 7pm vs. Dartmouth. We hope to see you out at one of the games, Pack the DAC (or Hagan)!
