The Drexel women's basketball team traveled to Europe recently and maintained the United States' winning ways in Europe (too soon?) by defeating four European teams over the course of a week
In game one, Drexel took on Binnenland Rosterdam in the Netherlands. The Dragons used a strong second half to pull away with a 77-49 victory. Jessica Pellechio, a transfer from VCU, led the Dragons with 16 points. Senior Jackie Schluth finished the game with ten points while Rachel Pearson had nine.
Game two featured a match-up against Ghent, Belgium that featured a familiar opponent in former Dragon sniper Jasmina Rosseel. Pellechio once again paced the Dragons to another victory, pouring in 21 points in an 85-74 win. Junior Sarah Curran added 15 points, Schluth had 11, and Pearson tallied 11 as well.
Drexel took on Sparta Laarne, a team from just outside Ghent, in game three of the tour. The Dragons dominated the whole way, beating their hosts 96-45. Drexel had five players in double figures on the day. Pellechio led the team with 16 points. She was followed by Carrie Alexander who added 14, sophomore Megan Marecic notched 13 points, Alexis Smith had 14, and Pearson had 10.
After heading to Paris, Drexel rounded out their playing schedule by topping Franconville 74-66. Drexel led nearly the entire game with Pellechio putting up another dominating performance with 29 points. Curran added 10 points and Smith had eight.
